The Latest Advance in Hair Transplant Technology
Follicular Micrografting - While hair transplants have been around since the mid 1950's, the process used today is radically different than methods available even five years ago. Today, we use follicular micrografts that contain an average of one to four hairs to create hair growth that is extremely natural.
These micrografts are harvested from a strip that is removed from the rear of the scalp under local anesthesia. The strip is cut into sections, which are placed under microscopes, and the hair follicles are removed. Hair follicles growout from the scalp singly or in groups of 2, 3, or 4.
The resultant grafts, therefore, contain on to four hairs. The bald scalp is injected with a local anesthetic and micro-incisions are made with tiny needles. The micrografts are inserted into the bald scalp, or between hairs in a thinned scalp, in numbers that average between 500 and 2000.
The hairs that will grow from these grafts appear very natural and are usually indistinguishable from any neighboring hairs that were there previously. There are other transplanting methods, but microscope-assissted follicular micrografting is the most advanced procedure available today.
Types of Balding
Mini & Micrografting is especially useful and effective for filling in various types of bald spots from the crown area to an entire scalp. It has been used successfully not only for men but for women as well, paricularly for women with thinning hair that cannot hide their scalps.
